Maryland Goatman - The Axe‑Holding Creature That Cried Like a Goat and Laughed Like a Man

That night, we just planned to park the car and hang out for a bit.

It was in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
One friend said there was a creepy forest road near Fletchertown Road.

A place where, at night, a man with a goat’s head supposedly appears.

We all laughed.
Every town has stories like that.

A man in a rabbit mask, a monster under a bridge, a woman running along the tracks—
that kind of thing.

We bought snacks and drinks at a convenience store and drove into the forest road.

It was darker than expected.
Streetlights were sparse, and the woods were visible only where the headlights hit.
Old fences flashed between the trees.

A friend joked,

“Couples get attacked here all the time.”

I told him to shut up.

About ten minutes after parking, we heard something outside.

Maa.

At first, I thought it was an actual goat.

Maybe there was a farm nearby.
But then it cried again.

Maaaaa—

This time, something was wrong.

At the end of the bleat,
a human laugh slipped in.

Heh.

Short.
Sharp.

The car went silent.

The driver whispered,

“You heard that, right?”

No one answered.

Then something snapped in the woods.

Crack.

Then again.

Crack.

Something was walking toward us.
Not a small animal—
each step broke dry branches.
