The Notice in the Unmanned Locker
I found the unmanned lockers tucked away in a corner of the subway station.
The shops nearby were closed, leaving the corridor dark.
I stood in front of locker number 24.
The used part I had bought through Danggeun Market was supposed to be inside.
I entered the four-digit password the seller had given me.
"Click."
With the sound of the lock releasing, the door opened just a crack.
I opened it.
It was empty inside.
Only a single yellowed sheet of paper lay on the bottom.
I picked up the paper.
A sentence was written on it in crooked handwriting.
'The item is in the compartment below.'
I lowered my head and looked at locker number 32 directly underneath.
The door of locker 32 was open by about one centimeter.
I slipped my finger into the gap and pulled the door open.
There was no item inside that one either.
The same yellowed sheet of paper was lying on the bottom.
'The item is in the compartment beside it.'
I looked at locker number 31 on the left.
Its door was also slightly open.
I opened the door of locker 31.
There was a sheet of paper on the bottom.
'The item is behind you.'
I felt a cold chill behind my back.
I turned around.
The subway station corridor was completely empty.
No one was there.
